What will buying a spot do for me?
Aside from being part for the first time in history of a concept that has never been done before online which may lead to world recognition, consider the following:
- Advertisement: Do you have a website? If so, why not get a spot or two to advertise your website. Maybe you're having a sale on a specific day and you want to promote that day. Buy the spot and link people to your website.
- Friends & Love: Do you have a MySpace, FaceBook, or similar online community account? Buying a spot will allow others to visit your profile page and take things further if there is an interest. You'll either get more friends or find love.
- Curiosity: Have you ever wondered how diversed or similar people can be even though they're born on the same day? Buy a spot and put your picture up. Let others see you while at the same time you get to see them. You might find other cool people like you.
What do I get?
When buying a spot you get the option to provide the following:
- Your Name: Doesn't have to be your real name. Will be visible when someone places their mouse over your spot.
- Your Picture: You can submit either a JPG or GIF picture file which will be resized to a 16 by 16 pixel box. For best quality try to submit an image that is already squared as tall or wide pictures will look a bit distorded.
- A Note: Anything you want everyone to see. From "Hello World!" to "Come meet me in Zimbabwe". Whatever you want people to see when they put their mouse over your spot.
- A URL: This could be the URL for your website, profile, or anything else you can link to and access via a web browser. You can also leave it blank. People will be sent to your URL when your spot is clicked on.
How long will my spot stay up?
Your spot will remain on the year that you purchased it on for as long as the site is up (minimum of 5 years from 2008). The current month and year will be loaded when people visit the home page however the option to view spots from the past or future is available. Therefore, your spot will be available for everyone to see for a very, very, very long time...
Why should I buy a spot?
Next time you see someone tell them that I'm selling their birthday. You'll either see amazement, confusion, or spontaneous combustion (on extremely rare occasions). Regardless of the outcome that person will become curious and want to know more. The curiousity will lead them to this site. They will browse through all the user submitted spots and hopefully buy a spot themselves.
Can I buy more than one spot?
